Every day on my instagram handle @donotdisturb_accessorizing I post what I'm wearing for the day. The idea of starting a fashion blog came to me during lockdown. I was bored, had a closet full of clothes I previously wore to work, trips, dinners and nowhere to wear any of it. I embraced head-to-toe sweats for a while but started to feel a void. I never realized how much fashion meant to me until the need for it seemed to go out the window. So I started wearing cocktail dresses and purses around the house. People were perplexed by it. "But why?" My husband would ask, "why get dressed up when you don't have to?" The answer was simple, without fashion I felt like I was missing an appendage. Once I slipped on that faux fur vest I finally felt more like myself again.
I was still missing something; sharing my love for fashion with other people. In the past I'd be the person at an event who goes all out with my outfit and shows up with enthusiasm to show it off and share my love for style with everyone else in the room. Now the beautiful wardrobe I curated throughout the past twenty years was being seen by my husband, toddlers, and one or two Target cashiers throughout the week.
I don't need to feel seen, in fact I hate taking my own picture which is why I didn't start a fashion blog until I was in my mid-thirties, but I do love to share my passion with other people especially those who also live and breathe fashion. So I started a glorified outfit diary on Instagram, expanded it into a blog, and here I am. Since sharing my outfits is paramount to my online presence, I decided to share my outfit diary on the blog as well (for those of you who aren't on social media or in case you want more outfit details.) So here's a closer look at what I wore last week:
